I still host Sunday lunch for my grandkids every month. My kitchen is beautiful, my garden is managed, and when my knee flared up last year the on-site nurses looked after me right here. I never had to go anywhere.

I was resistant to the idea of moving. My wife convinced me to 'just have a look'. Three years later we're busier than we've been in a decade - bowls, book club, Thursday night dinners. I just wish we'd moved sooner.

Dad's needs changed a lot over the last two years. The thing that mattered most to us was that he didn't have to move again - his room, his view, his routine, his friends all stayed the same. That's priceless.
